Among the Churches

New York, N. Y. (Eleventh Church).—The rapid development of the Fordham section of the Bronx and the increasing interest in Christian Science are both illustrated by the growth of the Christian Science church in that vicinity, known as Eleventh Church of Christ, Scientist, New York City. Organized as the Christian Science Society of Bedford Park about five years ago, by a mere handful of members, it became incorporated as a church by the end of 1919. Its recent quarters, accommodating about three hundred persons, were purchased by the church last August [1922]. So rapidly, however, did the attendance increase that many were turned away from the meetings, particularly on Wednesday evenings. Accordingly, the church has acquired a lease on the Southerly portion of the second floor of the building recently erected at the northeast corner of Grand Concourse and One Hundred and Eighty-fourth Street, which will double its present seating capacity.
