As a result of a difficult operation there had formed...

As a result of a difficult operation there had formed between my intestines, so the doctors found, growths which could never be removed entirely. Every six months I had to go to the hospital for special treatment, in order to be relieved for a short time. However, things got worse, and finally I was confined to my bed. I did not want, and could not take, solid food any longer. Then came an evil day, when the doctor told my daughter that I must go to the hospital right away to be operated on again, or I would die. I was, consequently, taken to the hospital. An operation was, however, not undertaken. The reason for this we never found out; presumably the doctors did not expect me to get help from it. After eight days, the ambulance took me back to my home uncured. I suffered terribly. My food consisted of a few swallows of sweet cream. I longingly waited for death, because I then thought it alone could relive my suffering.

At this critical time we heard, through a lady who had herself been healed through Christian Science help, that there was still hope, if I could decide to ask for treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. I had never heard of Christian Science before, and at first had but little hope. I gave my consent to try this method really on account of my daughter. However, after the practitioner had visited me and had spoken to me of God's love and all-power, I knew I had found in Christian Science the "pearl of great price" for which I had yearned so long. I am unable to describe the wonderful weeks of spiritual exaltation which followed. They brought a visible proof, which seemed like a miracle to our friends, our relatives, and especially our doctor; for in four weeks I was entirely healed. I could eat anything, could take long walks, and could again be busy about the house.

This healing took place in 1913. Since then I have had countless blessings; and again and again I thank God "for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men."—(Mrs.) Auguste Weihtag, Magdeburg-Buckau, Germany.
