Christian Science was first presented to me by our physician, who, after attending me for several months, said: "I have done all I can for you. You might try Christian Science." My husband and I did not know anything about what he called Christian Science, and found ourselves opposed to giving it a trial. Not until every material remedy was exhausted were we willing to try it.

On my first visit to a practitioner, I was relieved of the terrible spells I had night after night. She told me to get a book I had never heard of before. It was "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which later became my daily companion. I had not asked for treatment, and our conversation was short; but what she told me helped me in those dark days. I did not understand Science and Health, but read it in times of trouble and experienced relief every time.

Several months later I was presented with the first Christian Science periodicals I had seen, and they helped me to understand Science and Health. From that time I read a great deal, grew very happy, and found that my complaints were disappearing. The greatest revelation to me was that man's existence is not material, but spiritual. I was healed, by reading Science and Health, of diabetes, extreme nervousness, constipation, and other inharmonious conditions.
