Lee Journal
Pain seems very real to the physical sense of feeling, and Christian Scientists do not deny this; but they understand that the physical senses are always testifying to a false sense of existence, and not to the truth of being. The truth of being must be spiritual, eternal, immutable, and immortal; and there can be no pain in this state of being. Christian Science teaches that it is possible here and now to realize this state of being, and that by doing so the temporal discord is destroyed. Christ Jesus instantaneously overcame, or destroyed, sin, disease, and death. The removal of pain must have been included in his instantaneous healings, as, for instances, in his healing of the lepers, as given in the seventeenth chapter of the gospel of Luke. He was constantly seeing the universe, including man, from God's spiritual point of view. Christian Science is teaching humanity how to obtain the Mind of Christ, and thereby obtain this spiritual point of view.
It must be remembered that most of the people who have obtained their healing through Christian Science have already sought the help of physicians, but without avail. All Christians will acknowledge that Christ Jesus' method of healing the sick and the sinning is the best the world has ever known; then, why should any other methods be considered? If the time given to the study of other methods were given to the study of his pure teaching, the world would soon be rid of its misery, due to disobedience to God's spiritual laws.
