I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for us. When our now eight-year-old daughter was four years of age, she became very ill with inflammation of the hip joint. Upon the physician's directions we immediately took her to a hospital, where she remained for four weeks without improving. When we asked the physician why the healing was not taking place, he answered that the child was entirely tubercular and positively must be operated upon; also, that she would never be able to walk again. In our great need Christian Science was recommended. Of course, we immediately turned to a dear practitioner. We removed the child from the hospital without being operated upon. It was marvelous how the aposteme decreased. After the first treatment the child tried to get up; and to the astonishment of the entire neighborhood she was restored in three weeks, and could walk as formerly.
In 1919, our oldest son became ill with diphtheria. The physician was immediately called, but the illness increased alarmingly. Again we turned to a dear practitioner in desperation. Soon the boy opened his eyes and told me he felt better. When the physician returned in the morning, he confessed an inexplicable improvement.
We also overcame the grippe through Christian Science during the same year. The youngest child, at the time five months of age, was so weak that it did not awaken for days; and the physician did not want to give aid because he thought the child could not stand it. I again turned to a Christian Science practitioner. Formerly the stomach could retain nothing; but after turning to Christian Science I gave the sleeping child milk drop by drop. Soon afterwards it awoke, and was soon restored to health. The other children and I were also healed of the grippe through Christian Science.
