Words cannot fully express my deep debt of gratitude for all the blessings that Christian Science has brought into my life. In the spring of 1913 I began to study the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in the hope of encouraging and helping a member of my family who was also beginning this study, and who had been suffering, physically and mentally, for many years. From the first I experienced a peace and joy which have never waned. Greater confidence came to me as I was able to prove for myself that the truth as taught in Christian Science does heal all our diseases, and that it is "a very present help in trouble."
One of my first physical healings was that of an internal condition which had caused much discomfort and anxiety for about eight years. Through the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner, in two treatments this difficulty disappeared entirely, and has never recurred. Bronchitis and colds have also been speedily overcome and I have enjoyed splendid health all these years. During the war, Christian Science proved invaluable to me, especially when the news came that my son had been killed in action. The "angels of His presence" (Science and Health, p. 512) sustained me and I gained a clearer understanding of the "Life that knows no death,—the Life that maketh all things new," as a familiar hymn runs.
The Scriptures have become my daily study now that I can read them understandingly in the light of Christian Science. It affords me great happiness to be able to attend regularly the Sunday service, although I live several miles from the church and am over eighty years of age. Christian Science is the greatest blessing that has come into my life, and I am most grateful to the many friends who have so lovingly encouraged and cheered me on my way.
