When I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was not looking for healing for myself, but before the first reading of that wonderful book was finished, I found myself free from physical difficulties which had troubled me for years.

The first healing I witnessed was that of my little daughter, then four years old. She became ill suddenly, seeming to have fever, and complained that her legs hurt, and finally was unable to walk. In a few hours she was delirious. The symptoms seemed to indicate infantile paralysis, which was very prevalent at that time. There was a battle to fight before I could decide not to call a doctor, as the child seemed so desperately ill and I feared the criticism of family and friends.

A Christian Science friend offered help, which was accepted; but there was no change in the unconscious child after several hours. Then she went from delirium into sleep, waking in the morning completely healed, and asking for breakfast, which I was afraid to give her, until the practitioner assured me she was well and it would not hurt her. She had breakfast and went to her little private kindergarten near by, to the astonishment of those who had seen her condition the day before. After such a convincing proof I could not doubt the healing power of Christian Science. Some years later this child was healed, in less than half an hour, of an acute attack of appendicitis.
