It gives me great pleasure to give Christian Science credit...

It gives me great pleasure to give Christian Science credit for a most remarkable healing of influenza during the fall of 1918. On a Sunday morning I awakened with a severe headache. I used what little understanding I had of Christian Science, but only temporary relief resulted and I was unable to attend the church service. In about an hour I summoned the help of a Christian Science practitioner. I had a very high fever accompanied by delirium, could retain no food but fruit, and suffered intensely from pain in my head. This continued until Wednesday. As my wife had been up with me night and day, she secured the services of a Christian Science nurse, who had previously been a medical nurse for twenty-five years. The nurse immediately diagnosed the case as a severe attack of influenza. Wednesday night I sat up, Thursday I was out of doors, and Saturday I resumed my business. I had none of the after effects of weakness, of convalescing; nor have I had any physical effects since, to remind me of this experience.

Since that time I have known of other cases almost identical with mine, but where the help of Christian Science was not summoned. The unfortunate results in these cases have made me appreciate all the more what Christian Science treatment did for me, and my admiration and respect for its healing efficacy increases every day. I am absolutely convinced that the Christian Science practitioners, in their consecration and vigil against the enemy, disease, are as truly soldiers as were our American boys on the firing line.
