In a recent issue of your paper, under the caption "Christian Science," a contributor begins by declaring, "I am a firm believer in Christian Science," and concludes by saying that Christian Scientists should unite with the Episcopalians because the last named have, in their teaching, all there is in Christian Science "plus many more advantages necessary for a perfect and complete enjoyment of the Christian religion."

Christian Science holds to the fact that the religion of Christ Jesus is made known in his words and works, of which Mrs. Eddy says on page 350 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "His words were the offspring of his deeds, both of which must be understood. Unless the works are comprehended which his words explained, the words are blind." Christian Science maintains that the advantage in Christianity lies in complete understanding and obedience to Christ Jesus' commands and works, and there is no higher basis of religious instruction and life. "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also," said Jesus.

It is plain to any thinking person that the world, depending on man-made methods, has not demonstrated harmony and unity of thought and action. It is also plain that religious teachings that have been before the people for many generations have not manifested unity in thought and action. Something is lacking, and many religionists are today proclaiming, as has long been done, that the difficulty lies in disobedience to the divine order as made known through Christ Jesus. Christian Science fully recognizes the need of the age, and urges full obedience to Christ Jesus' commands, declaring that only on this high and true basis can the unity and harmony of Life, Truth, and Love be realized. Unity in Spirit, God, divine Love, will be made known in the same manner at all times, and Christ is ever manifested in the same life and works as of yore. When, through the power of Spirit alone, all perform the works Jesus did, there will be no doubt of the presence of spiritual unity in Christ.
