My heart is full of gratitude for the blessings which have come into my life through the study and application of Christian Science. From a discontented girl, always seeking for "a good time," it has changed me into a contented woman, finding happiness, more and more, in the spiritual instead of the material sense of things. There has been no forcible giving up of material pleasures, but one by one these are gradually ceasing to give enjoyment and are being replaced with something much more worth while and much more satisfying.

I have had many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science, but one healing for which I am particularly grateful was a very slow one—the healing of a trouble which, though not dangerous, was disfiguring. Friends had urged me to have the disfigurement removed through material means, but that seemed to me impossible, as it meant the abandoning of all that I had been striving to learn, and although the physical condition grew worse, I was very conscious of the change that was taking place in my thought and character, through the understanding of God which I was gaining. Loving help and encouragement always came when needed, and at last, after several years, the healing came and with it the destruction of a great deal of self-will. During these years the fear of public opinion was greatly lessened, much that was undesirable in my character was overcome, and the struggle was richly rewarded by the spiritual gain.
