On page 3 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...
On page 3 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. eddy we read, "Are we really grateful for the good already received?" This sentence serves to remind me that I have not yet acknowledged through our periodicals my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me, and as I receive so much help from reading the articles and testimonies of others I feel that the time has come for me to remedy this. Christian Science was first introduced to my notice several years ago by a dear friend, who sent some literature to me and asked me to investigate this wonderful teaching. Having given up a denominational religion as illogical and as bringing no comfort, I was prepared to read the literature with a perfectly open mind, but it seemed to me at that time a beautiful ideal, "too good to be true." I gradually began to see, however, that because it was good it was true, and vice versa, and when I began to put into practice the understanding I had I could do no other than accept it as the truth which makes free.
The study of Christian Science has brought me great peace of mind, comforted me in sorrow, and protected and guided me in a most wonderful way. Previous to my study of Christian Science I was greatly in bondage to material laws and medical beliefs, and consequently was never strong. My son also was a very delicate boy, never able to put in a full term at school on account of illness. This has all been overcome through Christian Science, and a belief of internal weakness and of pain and disorder when riding in a motor side car has been entirely eliminated. An article in one of our periodicals, entitled "Anatomy," helped me very much in overcoming this. I now enjoy perfect health in spite of the fact that I am working harder than ever before.
I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her revelation to this age of this wonderful Truth, which is available to all alike. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church and for class instruction. My one desire is to gain a fuller understanding of Christian Science and so to live as to be worthy of the name of Christian Scientist.
