It is many years since I began the study of Christian Science...
It is many years since I began the study of Christian Science, and I can truthfully say they have been the happiest years of my life. I had never known a day's freedom from pain up to that time, and the greater part of my life had been sent under the care of a doctor or in taking medicine of one kind or another. I had undergone two operations, from which I did not receive any help, and I was discontented, irritable, and unhappy most of the time. I had tried to overcome these conditions by the use of will power, but without the desired results. Through the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and with the help of a practitioner, I was healed in a short time of extreme nervousness, fainting spells, headaches, and various other ailments, and I am now well and happy.
Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 186): "If mortal mind knew how to be better, it would be better." Words fail to express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, for she has surely shown us the way to be better. I am so grateful for the help of Christian Science in my daily life, in the overcoming of fear for my loved ones, and for the help it gives one in every way. My earnest prayer is to prove my faith by my works and to be worthy the name of Christian Scientist.—(Mrs.)Elizabeth G. Brotherton, Himlar, California.
