It is with a feeling of gratitude that I give my testimony of the healing power of Christian Science. Several years ago, in the month of September, it was necessary for me to go to the woods to collect material to be used in the teaching of art. While driving along the bank of a creek, a vine which hung from a tree brushed the side of my face. I was so intent on getting a great variety of material that i took no further thought of the vine. During the evening I noticed a burning sensation on my face and neck, but as it was so slight I paid but little attention to it. The next morning there was some color and a little swelling on that side of my face. This being Friday and the day for my art lesson I was too busy to think of my condition. The burning sensation grew to a stinging pain and the swelling gradually increased. All day Saturday my condition grew worse and when I arose on Sunday morning I realized that I must ask for help. A friend of mine, a practitioner, lived just across the street, so I asked her to help me; she did so and I returned home and tried to realize the truth, but was so mesmerized by error that I could not resist the thought of fear. My friend called later and remained with me about a quarter of an hour and then went to church. About noon I was so much improved that I was able to see to read in Science and Health. I continued to improve so rapidly that I was able to return to school the next morning. This healing seemed all the more wonderful to me as I had been poisoned a number of years before and I was treated in materia medica for almost a year before I was in a normal condition.

I should also like to tell of a healing I experienced in a case of the grippe. As a child I was scarcely ever permitted to play out of doors during the winter, for if I did I was sure to have croup. After I was grown, whenever I had the grippe it always settled in my throat or on my lungs. This condition became so serious that our family physician said I had tubercles forming on my left lung. Fear seemed to get the better of me when the season for grippe came. During the winter of 1906 I was out of school for over a month and did not recover entirely from the effects of this disease until the next summer. Several years after this I was taken with a severe attack, and the practitioner was called immediately. She called twice on Wednesday and Thursday, on Firday I was able to sit up, and in a week from the following Monday I was back in school.

For all these healings and for the spiritual uplift, I am thankful to God and deeply grateful to Mrs. Eddy, and to the loving Christian Scientists who have helped me gain a better understanding of this saving truth.
