I am filled with such a deep sense of gratitude for the manifold blessings which have come into my life through Christian Science that I wish to give my testimony in return for the many helpful testimonies which come to us through the literature, for which I am deeply grateful.

From childhood I had been a sufferer from physical ailments, bowel trouble, neuralgia, and sick headaches, which were believed to be hereditary. Later came an operation, after which I was a constant sufferer and several years after was bedfast for more than two months with peritonitis. From this time for several years I was a semi-invalid, having every sort of medical aid, including osteopathy, electricity, and specialists. Receiving but little relief we tried a change of climate and living the simple life, even to living in the country, at which place I was again in bed for six weeks with peritonitis, and was told that no constitution could withstand a third attack. With this great fear held over me, and suffering with a severe pain in my side, I came back to this city for help, the physician declaring my only help would be another operation. At this time, at the request of my husband, I turned to a Christian Science practitioner for help and in three weeks I was healed of both the pain in my side and the dreadful fear. This was twelve years ago, and although I felt very grateful and began reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, it was only for a short time, for with returning strength came the desire to resume my voice and piano study and I felt I could not find time for the study of Christian Science.

The chronic ailments were still causing suffering, so thinking it a shorter route to health and happiness I began the study of so-called mental science, new psychology, and the like. After several years of this study, feeling the lack of spiritual food, I gave considerable thought to a statement made by my mother, "Some day you will have to come back to God," and I realized the best and most uplifting things of my life had come through my mother's religious training. Then came a greater desire than I had ever known before to know what Christian Science is, what it was that had healed me five years before. I went to church, my first service, and now for the past five years I have been an earnest student of Christian Science, and I wish it were possible to put into words the many blessings it has brought into my life, lifting me out of the bondage of material sense into the freedom, the joys, of spiritual sense. It has been my only help in time of physical or mental discord, and I can say that God has been with me always and in all ways. The testing times have always proved most valuable times, for the light is always present to dispel the darkness and with it comes a truer realization of "God with us" to lift us into the consciousness of love and harmony.
