Leigh (England) Chronicle

The contributor of "Talks on Health" is either ignorant of what Christian Science is or utterly misconceives its teaching, when, advising your readers not to worry, he tells them, "Do not wait to be cured by the suggestive powers of Christian Science." The method of suggestion is the direct opposite of the method of Christian Science. The former seeks to bring about a change in a man's condition through a suggestion, regardless of whether the suggestion is truthful or not. Indeed, frequently those who resort to this method suggest what they believe to be false, but justify themselves in the hope that if the suggestion is accepted the effect will be beneficial.

Christian Science helps because it brings to light the whole truth of being. For example, it deals effectively with worry, because it reveals and proves the allness of God and the reality of His wisdom and love. The understanding of these great spiritual facts removes the cause of worry. Thus Christian Science delivers men from sin and evil by bringing to light the truth about man's relationship to God which Christ Jesus revealed, but which has so long been buried beneath scholastic theology and ecclesiasticism.
