Some six years ago I suffered from a state of extreme exhaustion, and from hemorrhoids. Months of Christian Science treatment had been without apparent effect, and I was no longer able to move around without the tendency to faint. At what seemed the moment of death, with no time in which to reach a telephone and call for help before losing consciousness, one who felt antagonistic toward Christian Science for its seeming failure but who was sensible to the gravity of the situation, read aloud to me from Science and Health. This audible protest of Truth quieted the paroxysm of fear and became a law of recovery to the case. In less than three weeks of Christian Science treatment sufficient strength was demonstrated to travel unassisted to the home of a dear sister in West Virginia. The journey was made on an extremely hot day, sitting up all the while, and I arrived at midnight with very little sense of fatigue. Love bountifully supplied many beautiful experiences in the several weeks of recovery to normal strength. The complete healing, however, was slow, and required the assistance of several practitioners at various times, effecting a radical change in thought and destroying a morbid tendency, a great sense of latent fear, and the disposition to look to person for proof.

The return to a profession that had been abandoned, with no support other than reliance upon what seemed a very limited understanding of Principle, was, humanly speaking, as remarkable a proof of God's care as was the physical healing. Class instruction in Christian Science followed a successful year teaching delinquent children, and at its close progress appeared in an offer to return as principal of a new school. Additional activities have proved that the belief of depletion as being either mental or physical is entirely overcome. Since then grief and the sense of separation have been healed. The fear of invalidism, which attended the appearance of a so-called organic disease, has also been destroyed, and laws of heredity, discordant environment, and scholastic training have been set aside.

To all the friends in the Christian Science movement who have loyally adhered to Love in demonstrating the truth, I am indebted beyond words. It is the conviction that infinite Love embrances all of God's children, which inspires the giving of this testimony in hope of its usefulness.
