I want to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I want to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. When I first heard of this religion I was seemingly standing with one foot in the grave as a result of tubercular disease in its last stage, said to have been inherited, as all my people had passed on with it. At that time I did not care how soon the end came, as the cough was so severe, and with it there was so much pain, weakness, nervousness, and blindness. My life was one of woe and misery. For ten years I could not sleep well, and was unable to walk any distance on account of shortness of breath; but thanks be to God for the good that has come to me.
Only three years have I had a little of this understanding of God. One who had been brought back from the brink of the grave and was enjoying health and happiness, after talking to me about this teaching for a while, gave me some literature to read. I told her I could not see to read, but her reply was that I would be able to do so. That evening I read three hours without any trouble. I slept all night like a baby, and never since have I lost one night's sleep from coughing. The truth has since freed me from many ailments. Where I once had limited supply I now have sufficient. I love the Lesson-Sermons; they feed me when I am hungry and are as living water when I am thirsty. I do not get as weary to-day as I did when only a child. Life is worth living when the veil is drawn and the mists have cleared away, letting in to us a new understanding of spiritual things if we only strive in our daily life to put off the old man with his deeds and put on the new man. My desire is at all times to have that Mind in me which was in Christ Jesus, our Way-shower. I want to be able always to help some one in need as I was helped. I am thankful to God for the many blessings received by me and by my family through Christian Science and grateful to our dear Leader, who so lovingly revealed the light to a world in darkness and gloom. Christian Science is everything to me and I am grateful for having some understanding of it.
