I am very thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for all the blessings I have received in Christian Science. In 1913 I took up this study. I had stomach and bowel disorder of long standing, also kidney and bladder trouble. My feet and legs were swelling and there was great fear of diabetes. It seemed as if I had every kind of ailment that a poor mortal could have. I was a trained nurse, and the doctors did all they could for me. All I was taking was an opiate, and I had taken so much of this and other drugs that I had formed the habit. I used to think that if I could get rid of this bondage I would be willing to stand all the rest of the suffering.

At the darkest hour a lady handed me a copy of the Journal and explained the living truth to me the best she could. My healing seemed slow; I had treatment for a year before I was entirely healed. Since then I have laid aside my glasses after wearing them for over eight years. Thanks be to God for this understanding of Truth that sets us free. More than all I am grateful that this practical religion shows us how to live, love, and be at peace.
