I am sending this testimony of my thankfulness for God's loving-kindness, His ever present protection and guidance, in the hope that some who read it may be helped thereby. I have had many very helpful physical healings, having been healed of lung trouble, heart disease, and a number of minor ailments.
Since entering the British Army my experiences have one and all been unceasing manifestations of the power of divine Love. I have had my own service in full every Sunday both in camp in England and in camp and trenches alike in France, also during the time I have been in hospital in England, when unable to attend a Christian Science church. I have been very much helped during my stay in hospital by the knowledge I have gained of Christian Science, in overcoming trench fever, for my condition at one time was looked on as very critical. I held on to the truth, and although I could get no Christian Science practitioner I knew that God was just as much an ever present help to me then as He had been all the time I had known Him as divine Principle, Love; and I worked mentally as well as I could, with the result that in four days I was considered well enough to be sent to England. For that demonstration I am very grateful indeed.
When in the trenches in France I had some very interesting and helpful experiences. At one time we were engaged nights in making a new front line of trenches and communication trenches. Before going on any working parties, in fact every day, whether in the line or out, I used to read the twenty-fifth, twenty-seventh, ninety-first, and one hundred and seventh psalms, to repeat the daily prayer from the Manual, and the section "Alertness to Duty" (Art. VIII, Sects. 4, 6), also a verse from Mrs. Eddy's beautiful poem "The New Century" (Poems, p. 22), which was indeed a greater help than I can ever find words to express:—
