I have often had a desire to share with others who are struggling as I was for relief from suffering, what Christian Science has done for me. From childhood I was always sick, being seldom free from pain due to a rupture. As I grew older the suffering became more and more unbearable. Several physicians said that an operation would cure me, but I was so afraid that I would not submit to it. I asked God to enable me to know Him, to know where He was and if there was any relief from suffering. Very shortly after this desire was expressed, many changes came. I was separated from all my family and moved to another city.

Some months later I was invited to attened the Wednesday evening meetings at a Christian Science church, which I did. A friend saw me reading the Sentinel and gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Very soon after this book was given to me, I was attacked with acute lung trouble. At first I did not think of Christian Science or the book. I was quite ill all day and night, my husband having to move me, as I was unable to help myself; by morning I was much worse and thought I must send for the doctor. Immediately, however, the thought came, Why have a doctor when you have help at hand? I did not question; I can only remember that I found myself sometime later healed, sitting up in a chair reading Science and Health. I finished a dress that same day and walked several blocks to take it home. I could not understand this healing, but knew that it really took place; and I have never suffered from that difficulty again.

A year passed, and all this time I was suffering from the first mentioned trouble. Then a friend asked me to have a practitioner treat me, which I did. After three months' treatment I removed a support which I had worn for many years and without which I could not long stand on my feet, and I have never felt the need of it since. I have also been healed of stomach disorder, catarrh in a severe form, and many other ailments. Especially am I greateful for the overcoming of a miserable temper, of suspicion, prejudice, and many false beliefs by finding, to some extent, what God is and where He is.
