I would like to express my gratitude for Christian Science...
I would like to express my gratitude for Christian Science and what it has done for me. I did not become interested in it for the physical healing, but while reading some of the literature wonderful truths unfolded to me, even as the petals of a flower are opened, and it seemed almost too beautiful to be true.
I attended services, bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, began to study it, and soon found it to be just what I had been wanting all my life. For years I was an active worker in church and Sunday school, but never felt satisfied, nor gained the peace that "passeth all understanding." Since beginning to study Christian Science I have had several proofs of its healing power. In one instance an injured ankle was healed after I had been told that crutches must be used for seven weeks. I was up and about my duties each day, and at the end of two weeks laid the crutches aside entirely. I have also been quickly healed of severe headaches, bilious attacks, and bronchitis.
I have enjoyed the privilege of class instruction, and since then have had many convincing demonstrations of the power of Truth. An abnormal growth on the head, which had been growing larger for a number of years, entirely disappeared in about two months. In July, 1914, I severely hit and bruised a joint of the middle finger on my right hand. It often troubled me in my work, for I could not bend the finger; then one morning in August the finger was found to be almost doubled in size and there was pain up to the elbow. I at once began to declare the truth, and next morning there was nothing left to remind me of the trouble. Later, while moving a piano, my left arm was caught between it and the door casing, so that to mortal sense it was much bruised and very painful. I silently worked as we are taught in Christian Science, and next morning every trace of discoloration had disappeared. The most important of my healings, however, was the overcoming of a sense of deep sorrow, out of which I have been lifted into newness of life. I am certainly grateful for Christian Science and know that therein is to be found the "pearl of great price."
