For three years I have been enjoying splendid health and greater spiritual understanding, and therefore feel that I must give to the world, in some measure at least, my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. I had suffered from rheumatism affecting the heart, neuralgia of the spine (which three doctors said could not possible be outgrown until I was twenty-one), and many other ills. I have been free from both these difficulties since coming into Christian Science, although not yet quite twenty years old. I have been healed of an ailment which troubled me each winter for many years and caused me much distress; also of hay-fever, from which I had suffered for six years, but have not had a trace of it for the past three years. I have also been healed of bilious attacks and of the smoking habit.
When taking up the study of Christian Science I had been very weak for some time, and the doctor had just said that I was suffering from lung trouble of a quickly developing nature, supposed to be hereditary. With the aid of Christian Science treatment and an unswerving allegiance to the truth in so far as I understood it, I was healed in eleven weeks. In eighteen weeks I was back at my work with a certificate from the same doctor stating that I was fit to resume my occupation. I have since then passed a medical examination in connection with my business, and am in perfect health.
I am deeply grateful for these healings, also for the replacing of a material sense of God with a more spiritual and a far more demonstrable knowledge of Him as Truth, Life, and Love, omnipotent and ever present. My thoughts reach out in thankfulness and praise to God, the giver of all good and perfect gifts, for His wonderful love, to Christ Jesus the Wayshower, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her noble life and work; likewise to all the Christian Scientists who have in many ways strengthened and uplifted my thought in time of need. My great desire is to live more nearly as I pray and to be so led by divine Principle that I may prove my gratitude by fulfilling the command of our Master to preach the gospel and heal the sick.
