The Lectures

The introduction by Mrs. Katherine Tuckerman, second reader of Third Church, in presenting Virgil O. Strickler, who lectured on Christian Science at the Odeon under the auspices of the five Christian Science churches in St. Louis, was as follows:—

A new revelation has come to this age,—a revelation of hope; for the promises of the Scripture are being fulfilled. Thousands of us are bearing witness to this fact. No one can say today that there is anything too good to be true. We are finding out that only the good is true, and also that God, good, is a living reality. Listen to some of the promises. In Malachi we read, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, . . . and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." In Revelation we find: "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away ; and there was no more sea. . . . And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes ; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." These are true, as Jesus proved to the people of his age; and to us of our age Mrs. Eddy has so clearly interpreted Jesus' teachings that we are also proving them true.—Correspondence.
