I have been healed of many ills through Christian Science

I have been healed of many ills through Christian Science. While in the Philippine Islands, during July, 1909, I fell from the roof of the hospital, where I had been fixing a glass in the skylight, and landed on a pile of rock. The right wrist was broken and my head was seriously injured. As it was a small post hospital, the doctors sent me to the division hospital at Manila, a distance of sixty—five miles. I was unconscious eleven days and twelve nights, awaking at about nine o'clock on the morning of the twelfth day, to find myself in a strange place and tied so I could hardly move. The first of September, 1909, I returned to my post, and a few days later, while at drill, the horse I was riding fell and threw me. His hoof struck my head in the place where it had been injured by my fall from the roof of the hospital.

At the conclusion of the regular inspection, on the Saturday following the second accident, while standing at attention in quarters, I had an attack of vertigo and was sent to the hospital, where at intervals I had some very violent attacks. The hospital authorities sent me to the United States in October, 1909, where upon the slightest contraction of the muscles I would have those same attacks. I seemed to get better, yet had no strength. I was discharged March 30, 1910, and went home to my parents, who were then living in Los Angeles. After considerable persuasion I was induced to take Christian Science treatment, and on May 2 went to work for a machinery concern, but could not keep it up because of my back, which was very weak as a result of the first fall. I have, however, been completely healed through Christian Science of the foregoing ailments, and in the past six months have felt better than ever before in my life and weigh a great deal more.

Another experience especially proved to me God's everpresence and loving care. In November, 1913, a cold settled on my lungs. I concluded to go home, a distance of some twenty—five miles, and undertook this trip in an automobile with which I was not very familiar. When I was ready to return to the ranch, I decided to start early to avoid traveling in the dark. When about to go, it became evident that I had a fever, and a friend was asked to accompany me, as I did not want to go alone. When we were about eleven miles from home, my companion spoke to me and I did not answer, so she repeated her query, and then received a mumbled reply. I am unable to give any statement of what happened after this, except what was told me.
