My first reading in the Christian Science literature taught...

My first reading in the Christian Science literature taught me that to work out life's problems aright I must get a clear understanding of God, divine Principle. This demanded work,—the study of the Bible with the aid of Science and Health, and the putting into daily practice of what I learned. As a result of this course I have become a happy student of the Bible and have realized the fulfilment of many of the beautiful promises therein contained. I am daily being helped spiritually, morally, and physically.

A few years ago the application of this truth about God and man made the arrival of my little girl a most beautiful demonstration. I was up in less than twenty-four hours, but on account of my husband, who was not then interested in Christian Science, the doctor was permitted to make his usual number of calls, and so I stayed a little more closely to my bed than I would have done otherwise. Each time he called, the doctor told me many things that I must not do. His advice was not heeded in the least, however, because the Christian Science practitioner had assured me that God's ideas need no assistance from matter. My baby and I are both strong and happy.

Experiences during these few years have proven to me that "there is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile." At one time our baby swallowed a pin two inches long. My fear in this instance was overcome by the assurance given in the ninety-first psalm and in hymn 154 in the Christian Science Hymnal. There was no change in the baby's eating, playing, or sleeping. Although she was with my husband all of that day, he knew nothing of what had occurred until I showed him the pin the following noon. We have had no desire to seek help from any other source that God, who is all-presence.
