Since Christian Science led me two years ago out of the darkness of mortal beliefs into the light of ever-present omnipotent Love, I have every reason to be grateful for the treasures which Truth has revealed to me. At that time I was a physical wreck. For two years I had been suffering from hemorrhage of the bowels to a serious extent, and had been in two of Sydney's well-known hospitals for eight months under leading medical men. I also underwent two critical operations, which proved of no avail in stopping the hemorrhage. After these weary months of lying in the hospital I was discharged as incurable, and was given to understand that I could not last much longer.

A short time after this a bad hemorrhage occurred, and the doctor who was summoned said to the messenger, "There is no use in my going to that woman, for I can do nothing for her; tell her to take a double quantity of the drug." A dear friend in the house, a student of Christian Science, knowing the doctor's verdict, then came to me and asked if I would read her book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I was so weak that I could read only one line at a time, but I continued to read on in that way until I finished the beautiful chapter on Prayer. I can never adequately tell of the light and peace that seemed to surround me as I read. I thought Science and Health the most beautiful book I had ever opened, and I felt stronger after reading it. The next day, Tuesday, I was able to get up and walk across the room, while on Wednesday I attended the testimony meeting. On the following day I consulted a practitioner, and after the first treatment had been given the hemorrhage ceased.

I continued treatment for a week, as I was still weak, but during that time I was able to take exercise, which was impossible before. I have been a perfectly well woman ever since. I shall always remember those words the practitioner said to me when I called on her: "God is your life." They have been with me continually. I can say with truth that were it not for Christian Science I would not be here today, for I owe life, health, and happiness to this teaching. Even recently I have had many demonstrations through my own understanding of Christ, Truth, and these have meant so much to me.
