A recent issue contains a letter signed by "A Psychical Student." This correspondent claims to be in possession of wonderful truths which are to help mankind, and yet he is too bashful to put his name to them. But what really interests me is his remark about Christian Science, which he describes as "wishy–washy." He has really done the Christian Science movement a very good turn, as for some years Christian Scientists have been persistently trying to make the public realize that there is nothing in common between Christian Science and spiritualism. Now your correspondent has helped us not a little in this matter.

Christian Science is a practical, demonstrable religion, which is teaching men the present availability of God, as a God at hand. It is taking the old truths of the Bible, which have so long been static, and revealing them as essentially dynamic. It makes no promises of some wonderful occurrence in the unknown future, but reveals to mankind the kingdom of heaven, or law of God, at hand. On the other hand, "A Psychical Student" is hoping to convince his readers that spiritualism is going to reveal to mankind some wonderful way of redemption beyond "the dreams of scientists and theologians."

Unfortunately for "A Psychical Student," humanity is sick of these nameless promises, and is today demanding proof of all religious and scientific teaching. Christian Science, with its vast army of adherents who have been healed of some sickness or redeemed from sin, is its own answer to these critics.
