I have received so much good, so much encouragement when I needed it, from the reading of the testimonies of others, that I feel I should be ungrateful if I did not tell of some of the benefits I have received. In the spring of 1907 I began to have bladder trouble and then other ills set in. We were then living on the desert and I had to send to a good doctor in Los Angeles. He sent me medicine, but I kept getting worse and in July I went to the city to be treated. The doctor said I must go to a hospital, and there, under the care of doctors and nurses, I remained nearly all the rest of the summer and fall. I was given temporary relief, but found that whenever I got out of bed I became worse. I grew no better but became weaker all the time, and finally the doctor, who had called in specialists, told me that the case had become chronic. As I could not get help there I decided to go to Arizona, where my husband's work had taken him, so that I might be with him when I died, instead of being among strangers. Kind neighbors helped me to dress and took me to the train, where I had the berth made up and went to bed.

When I arrived at the end of my journey my husband carried me into the house and put me in bed. I never expected to get up from it again, but a dear lady who had been cured in Christian Science heard of my being sick, called to see me, and told me how she was healed. I did not doubt that it had helped her, but I did not understand how it could help me, when the best doctors in Los Angeles had tried so hard to do so and could not. She went home, but in a few days returned again and persuaded me to let a practitioner come to see me. I finally decided to try Christian Science, but I kept my medicine, thinking I would have it to fall back upon if I grew worse under the treatment as I expected to do if I gave up the medicine. I soon found, however, that I was getting better, and the next day I felt as if I could sit up a while. I kept on feeling better every day, until all the minor ailments left me, but the bladder trouble was still in evidence, although I no longer suffered from it. After having treatment for about three months, I decided to study and try to work out the problem myself. My complete healing was slow, and I see now that this was for the best, as it caused me to study and find out something about this wonderful truth. About three and a half years after I first had treatment, I suddenly realized one day that the old trouble which had clung to me so long, was all gone.

I have had many blessings for which to be thankful, the healing of croup and other ailments with the children, right at home; and not one drop of medicine has been taken for over four years. I certainly feel thankful to God, also grateful to Mrs. Eddy that she has made it possible for us to know of the truth which sets us free.
