It is with a heart full of gratitude for the numerous blessings which have come into my life since I first gained a knowledge of Christian Science, that I send this testimony. It is over three years ago that I first heard of this truth, when I was so impressed by the results from absent treatment in the case of a friend, that I became curious to know what this unseen power was, and upon making inquiries I was handed a copy of the Sentinel, and later shown a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which I read in part. I had no thought of receiving any physical help, but I was looking into Christian Science with an unprejudiced mind, and the truth indeed did make me free.

I had for years suffered continually with pains in my back, and had tried all kinds of material remedies, but with no result, so that I had resigned myself to my fate, as I thought I was doomed to suffer always; and I often used to wonder if it was possible for any one to feel really well and be entirely free from pain. I was, however, entirely cured while investigating Christian Science, without taking any treatment from a practitioner. The pain disappeared, and I did not know when or how, but the fact remains that it went, and has never returned. I was also cured of the tobacco and drink habit of many years' standing, and the use of profanity. I was indeed lifted up out of the depths of sin and my feet were planted on the rock Christ Jesus.

At that time my only desire was to spread the glad tidings. I wanted to tell everybody what had happened, and felt a little disappointed when people would look at me with incredulity; but I have since seen the needlessness of this, and have learned that there is a time to speak and a time to keep silent, and that the best way to show our gratitude is by daily striving to follow in our Master's footsteps, for, as our Leader says, "action expresses more gratitude than speech" (Science and Health, p. 3). Since that time I have been able to overcome, with my own limited understanding of Truth, every discordant condition, whether mental or physical. I have been healed of rheumatism, besides several minor physical ailments, and I have been able to help others to some extent. A discordant condition which at one time I never even dared to hope could be removed, has gradually melted away, until what once seemed to me a "mountain," proved to be a very little hill indeed. Now even that has disappeared; and perfect harmony reigns where once all was discord.
