I long to express my gratitude for the great blessings...
I long to express my gratitude for the great blessings received in Christian Science, both physically and spiritually. A year ago I was afflicted with the ailment diagnosed by the doctors as locomotor ataxia. I tried physicians and specialists of all kinds, but grew steadily worse, until I could not move a foot. A friend then asked me to try Christian Science, but I had no faith in it; in fact, I was afraid to give up the medicine. Finally, however, I was persuaded to call in a practitioner. Prior to taking Science treatment, I was in pain night and day, but one week after I had called the practitioner all pain left me. I then began to move my feet, and in a short time I was able to get out of bed, and step by step I have improved. I am a musician and work in a theater, and I walk nine blocks from my room to the theater twice a day. I had worn glasses for a number of years, and at the opening of the theater this season, it being a new house to me, I did not know the exits very well, so the first night I fell down the back stairs and broke my glasses. I did not hurt myself, though, and I found that my eyes were healed. Whereas before I could not read the music on the staff at all, I now have no trouble, although we have some manuscript which is very hard to read. I also read the Bible in the finest print.
In October, 1911, I made a trip to the Rockies with a party of friends, and walked up and down the mountains just as much as they did all day. In addition to all this physical healing, I can say in behalf of myself and family that we have found a beautiful religion. I never read the Bible before, but now I never miss a day, and I also read the Lesson-Sermon every day. My gratitude is beyond words.—Le Roy Thomas, Duluth, Minn.
