I feel deeply grateful to our heavenly Father, and also...
I feel deeply grateful to our heavenly Father, and also to our dear Leader, who has shown us the way out of our difficulties. It was about two years ago that I first knew anything of Christian Science, when I saw what it did for my grandmother when she was ill from rheumatism. She was in such pain that she could not turn herself in bed, and when Christian Science released her from the bondage of Satan, I could not help but believe that her healing was the work of God. How glad we all were to have our dear one with us again! She seemed like one risen from the dead, for we expected to see her draw her last breath at any minute; and when her health was restored, I looked at it as a marvel.
The following autumn I was taken with a throat trouble to which I had been subject every fall and spring for about seven years previous. Every time the attacks were worse—the one previous to this had lasted three weeks and I was in great pain and could not eat because of the swelling in my throat. I had always employed a doctor when I had these attacks, but he never gave me any encouragement of getting better. On this occasion I was sick two days, and used some of the doctor's medicine; but the third day I was worse, so I gave up the medicine and wrote to the Scientist who had helped my grandmother. I received her reply the next day, and was completely healed after reading her letter. The following winter I had another attack, which I was able to overcome for myself in about twenty-four hours, and I have never been troubled with it since.
For this and many other blessings I am very thankful.
