It has always been my desire to express my gratitude for Christian Science through the Sentinel. I have been acquainted with its text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, since I was eight years old, and many beautiful demonstrations of healing have been made for others in our home, as well as for myself. Among them there is one of which I would like to speak.
I was attending a grammar school that had over eight hundred pupils, but I was the only Christian Scientist among them. I fell from the second story to the cement floor of the basement, down stone steps which were iron barred at the edge; but while I was falling I realized that God would take care of me. I was falling I realized that God would take care of me. I was unconscious when taken up, but when I came to, I still clung to the thought of God's allness. A physician and nurse were called, and the principal and several of the teachers were in the room where I was carried, while bandages were placed from my shoulders to my ankles. My mother was out of the city, and I knew that I could not ask any of those present to call for help from a Christian Science practitioner, so I felt that I must declare the truth for myself the best I knew how. The people began to leave me one by one, so I got up and asked one of the teachers to fasten my dress. I thanked all for their kindness, then put on my coat and walked eight blocks to my home.
I got Science and Health and read in it, after taking off the medicated bandages, and within four hours I felt able to get supper. This I did, and I also played some of the hymns from our Hymnal on the piano without thinking of my wrists, which were supposed to have been very much injured. I was without any soreness or discoloration within the next twenty-four hours, and able to attend school after two days. It made me very grateful to know from my own experience that man is given dominion over all flesh, and to be able to prove this without help from any one but God.
