I wish I had words wherewith to express adequately...
I wish I had words wherewith to express adequately my gratitude to God for Christian Science and all its benefits to me and my family. When this truth found us we were in dire need of help, and through its influence we have been lifted out of many and serious ills. In February, 1909, my mother, who is one of the family, was stricken with paralysis. She was completely helpless, except that she could move her head a little; but under Christian Science treatment she regained the use of her body and limbs in three weeks. The so-called after effects seemed obstinate, and the ligaments of one limb were drawn up so that it was much shorter than the other; but this difficulty was overcome in a short time. Then bloating set in, but that also was overcome. In July she was able to walk about town, and she has continued to be well ever since, though she is over seventy-five years old. She had always been considered a delicate woman, and for that reason her healing seemed more wonderful.
A short time after we began the study of Christian Science, my son cut his finger, and removed the ring which he wore to the other hand. This finger began to swell, the ring being too small, but he thought it would be all right though he could not get the ring off. His finger pained him all night, and in the morning was badly swollen. He went to a jeweler to have the ring filed off, but the jeweler said it would injure his finger dreadfully to attempt such a thing. So his father telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner, telling her of the conditions, and in a very short time the swelling had disappeared and the ring was removed from the finger. Many who had seen his finger before the treatment were amazed when they saw how quickly the difficulty was overcome.
One Sunday morning I found my son very ill with fever, with severe pain in his head and a badly affected throat, but by persistent denials of error and affirmations of the truth, he came out of it beautifully and was able to be about his business by Tuesday morning. These demonstrations are some of the very many proofs of the power of Truth to overcome error which we have had in our home. Every day brings fresh proofs of its efficacy to overcome disease, sin, and inharmony. We have been able to work out of many business tangles by the aid of Christian Science, and best of all, this truth is bringing the sweetness of hope and peace into our lives, making us better Christians with purer thoughts, and we are more careful of our words. In short, it is leading us from the material sense of life, with all its weight of care and anxiety, up to the spiritual, where we meet Christ, Truth, and commune with Love. We thank God every day for this blessed truth as revealed in Christian Science.—Una S. Champion, Fort Scott, Kan.
