THE LECTURES

A lecture on Christian Science was delivered in the Oliver opera house by Virgil O. Strickler, before an audience which filled the house to its utmost capacity. In introducing the speaker, Frank A. Clarke, first reader, said in part,—

A great many of you who are here today have experienced in some measure the freedom from sickness and sin which a scientific knowledge of God bestows, and are therefore seeking a better understanding of this divine Principle, the knowledge of which has already produced in your lives so much health and happiness. Others here have seen the evidence of the beneficent influence which this intelligent understanding of God exerts in the lives of their friends and acquaintances, and being convinced of the efficacy of Christian Science as a preventive and a curative agency, are desirous of learning something of its Principle; and doubtless there are some among you who have an erroneous conception of the teachings of this Science and of the method of its application in the treatment of disease and in the solving of the problems that arise in our daily experience. This lecture is for the purpose of correcting the erroneous views that may be entertained concerning Christian Science, and for the enlightenment of all earnest seekers after a knowledge of Truth.—New Era.
