I have a deep feeling of gratitude in my heart for Christian Science, and take this way of expressing it. When I first heard of Christian Science, I was a nervous woman without hope or happiness, because I thought sickness more real than anything else. I had lived from childhood in a home where there was much sickness and it was still there at the time when I began the study of Christian Science. I am, however, thankful today that sickness and sin do not seem as real to me as they once did, for I am learning of God as Life, Truth, and Love; old things are passing away, and all things are becoming new. Christian Science has enabled me to realize that God is ever present and meets all our needs; that He cleanses us from all sin and heals all our diseases.
I have passed through some severe troubles and sicknesses, but Truth has been my only support. One experience was in a case of premature birth. The symptoms were dangerous, but I passed through it without any bad effect whatever. I also wish to tell of the healing of our younger son. He was not considered strong from childhood, having had severe nervous trouble at two different times, and did not seem to grow normally. He was subject to sick spells, which were quite severe and kept him at a disadvantage in school. Two years ago he had Christian Science treatment, and he is now growing and is strong and healthy in every way. I am thankful to God, and also to Mrs. Eddy for the teachings which have helped me to understand Truth.—Lillie Ivens, Decatur, Ill.
