A few years ago I heard of Christian Science through...
A few years ago I heard of Christian Science through dear friends, and saw that the truth works changes in every way; that whereas my friends used to suffer a great deal, they had become well; and this gave me hope that I too might be helped and brought nearer to God. I was richly rewarded for trusting Christian Science, and I thank God for this. The study of Jesus' teachings, and faithful effort to put into practice the truth understood, gave me a sense of God's nearness and loving-kindness. My thoughts became free, my views about many things were changed, and I feel that God will continue to sustain me and increase my faith in the fulfilment of His promises. Last summer the truth often enabled me to overcome trying conditions which asserted themselves and seemed very real. I would often be taken with spells of weakness such as I used to suffer, but I turned to God, fully trusting that I would always find help in Him if I but faithfully followed His commandments and reflected the true man as Jesus revealed him in his teaching and through his life. I clung firmly to God's word, that if we worship Him in spirit and in truth, we are helped; and I fulfilled my daily duties with God's help, every now and then overcoming the sense of weakness.
I would also like to express my gratitude for another beautiful proof of God's love and omnipresence. Before coming to Christian Science I went twice a year to the dentist's as my teeth needed much attention. For two years after my coming into Christian Science I went to have my teeth examined, but to my great satisfaction there has never been any dental work required, much to the dentist's surprise. I am filled with gratitude to God for all these blessings, also to dear Mrs. Eddy for all the good which has come to me through her faithful labor. I have been especially helped by her admonition that we should constantly hold in thought the good and pure, for then do we become conscious that God is with us and that He worketh in us that which is enduring and perfect.
