It is four years ago that I first read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and found, at last, an answer to the question I had been hopelessly asking for years: What are we? In the course of this questioning I saw very plainly that, as Mrs. Eddy puts it, "all sin is of the flesh" (Science and Health, p. 311), and it seemed so absolutely unjust that an omnipotent God, who could have made us spiritual and perfect, should have put us into the flesh with every instinct opposed to good. The church teaching did not help me in the least ; the material theory of evolution I entirely rejected, and then I heard of Christian Science. I saw at once that its teachings solved this problem absolutely and finally if it were true; and I knew, when I had finished the chapter on Genesis, that it is true. With deep gratitude I can truly say that it has brought me peace, health, and happiness.

Through the study of Christian Science and occasional help from practitioners I have been healed of a severe stomach difficulty, bad headaches, nervous troubles, etc., after twelve years of pain and misery; and— for which I am still more grateful— I have found an understandable God and an object in life. My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for having first discovered this truth, and then having stood for and kept it unadulterated for us, can only be proved by my life.
