It is now more than ten years since I first knew of Christian Science and its wonderful healing. My knowledge of it came through the healing, in Emporia, Kan., of a poor woman afflicted for fourteen years. She had been an invalid most of the time, and had tried all the material remedies available, but found no relief. After taking six weeks' treatment in Christian Science she was healed, and gained enough understanding of the truth to make some good demonstrations for others as well as to help herself. I felt that this truth could heal me as well as others, so I purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and began to read it; but, failing to understand what I read, I became discouraged and laid the book aside. As years passed by, however, I would often take up the book and try to read it understandingly, but each time was met with the same discouragement. In the mean time I had a trouble in one breast, and my husband said I must call a doctor and let it be lanced. The suffering was terrible, and I knew I could not bear it much longer, but I had more faith in the healing power of Christian Science than in a surgeon's knife. So I wrote to a practitioner for help, and one treatment healed me. This great help convinced me that I must gain an understanding of the truth, and again I tried to read; but I lived where there were no Scientists, so could not get the encouragement or explanation which I felt I needed.

In November, 1907, I took a severe cold, which seemed to affect my lungs and which hung on tenaciously for over three weeks. I used material remedies all the time, but grew worse daily. I again wrote to the Scientist for help, and after one week's treatment I was much improved, but it was three weeks before I was free from the pain in my lungs and a severe cough. The mental trouble which had seemingly brought on the illness was of such a nature that I could not put it down, consequently I decided to go where there were some Scientists, that I might have the privilege of attending their services and of learning more of this great truth. By hard work and great sacrifice I have succeeded in locating where for five months I have had the blessed privilege of attending services, and I am thankful for the help I receive from the Lesson-Sermons. I do heartily appreciate Mrs. Eddy and all her good works, and I love the Christian Science literature.
