Seven and a half years ago Christian Science came into...

Seven and a half years ago Christian Science came into my life, and it has since then been the sunshine of God's ever-presence to me, even "a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path," chasing away in no small degree the dark shadows cast by fear and ignorance. I accepted Christian Science for its physical healing. Among my many ailments was eye trouble, pronounced by examining oculists to be of the worst kind, which even glasses could not correct entirely. I could not travel any distance, nor could I in any way use my eyes freely, even with glasses, without suffering severely. I had worn glasses some six years or more, and was unable to read without them, and they were never off except during sleeping hours.

I purchased the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," as soon as I began taking treatment. The practitioner told me to study the book, and that there was no reason why I should not help myself in regard to my eyes, pointing out to me, at the same time, that the senses of man are spiritual and perfect, man being spiritual and not material. I was hundreds of miles away from my practitioner and had had but four present and some absent treatments up to this time, and these had been for what seemed to be far more serious difficulties. I had suffered untold misery from stomach, bowel, and spinal trouble, and was healed after receiving treatment for about three weeks. I had no treatment for my eyes, but after I had been reading Science and Health about three weeks, one morning I opened the Bible, laid off my glasses, and lifted my thoght to God, believing this book to contain God's Word and that there was no power which could prevent me from reading it. I was able to read for a short time without any difficulty; then I closed the book, and not one bit discouraged, thanked God that I had proven, though in a small way, that sight is spiritual. I felt confident all would be plain to me in God's time, and never again put on my glasses. Each succeeding day I was able to read longer, and at the end of something like a week or ten days I could read for any length of time. I never again suffered from a form of limitation with regard to my eyes, and I know in some degree that in God's light I see light. I feel that Christian Science has indeed given me "beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness." I cannot express in words what I feel I owe to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, but the words of the prophet Nahum echo my thought. "Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace!"
