In the spring of 1899 in stepping upon a chair I fell...
In the spring of 1899 in stepping upon a chair I fell and sustained painful injuries, which the doctor who attended me was unable to diagnose. I was lifted up and put in bed, where I remained for three weeks. I suffered severe pain at times, then I got somewhat better and was able to be up and walk about with the use of a cane. I was, however, unable to do much, and did not seem to improve. At this time I heard of a neighbor who was having Christian Science treatment and who was getting well. A member of my family urged me to try the same treatment, which I decided to do; and after the first treatment the pain stopped. I began the study of Science and Health, and as I gained in the understanding of Christian Science I found myself recovering. My healing was slow, and I took treatment for about two months, but during this time other physical ailments of many years' standing left me. I have received many physical benefits, for which I am very grateful, but greater far is my debt of gratitude for the change this truth has brought in my temperament and my attitude towards life.
Through the daily study of Christian Science has come freedom from worry; more harmony in the home; a larger measure of happiness; and a feeling that life is worth living. For all of these benefits I am truly thankful to God. I also wish to express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, our Leader in the way of this new-old religion.
Mrs. Marion C. Holmes, Duluth, Minn.
