From my earliest recollection I had never been free from pain for a single day. Many physicians had attended me, but all had failed to help me and they had given me up to die. In 1884 I was taken to a hospital, where I remained four months. I was then taken home, and as the result of the treatment I was nearly four years in bed, suffering almost every ill the flesh is heir to. Not being quite ready to give up all and accept God as my healer, I was sent to another hospital in 1898, when I was twice under the surgeon's knife, but all to no purpose. I still suffered on, not being benefited.

About four years ago I had treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, and began to gain in health. Through the study of the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I am now comparatively a well woman, not having taken any medicine in that time. I am now able to do all my work and am gradually gaining in strength, for which I thank God, and also our Leader.
