In September, 1896, my youngest child, then about nine months old, was stricken with a very severe attack of lung trouble. I did not know much about Christian Science at the time, although my wife had been healed of several diseases of long standing through its agency. We called in our family physician, who said it was a very serious case. He prescribed some medicine, which I was to put up, as I had been in the drug business about twelve years; but before giving the medicine my wife wanted to telephone to the Christian Science practitioner who had helped her. I consented, then took up the baby, who seemed in a very serious condition. In a very few minutes after my wife had telephoned the practitioner, the child was breathing freely; but in a few hours the same trouble appeared in a worse form. We called the practitioner and in a very short time the baby was entirely healed without the use of material means, and with no recurrence of the trouble. About two years later this same child tripped and fell, and a piece of an orange peel which she had in her mouth lodged in her throat. After my wife had tried every physical means to remove the obstruction, but without avail, she carried the child to a neighboring house, where this same practitioner was visiting a patient. I was called at the same time, and when I reached there the child looked to the senses to be lifeless, but through the application of Christian Science she was in a short time restored, the peel being removed without any material effort. She is now in the best of health.—F. W. Franz, Sioux City, Ia.
