For seven years after the birth of my son, from April,...
For seven years after the birth of my son, from April, 1891, till January, 1898, I was continuously under the care of our family physician, with only temporary relief, and was gradually growing worse, till consultation with noted specialists decided me to try for a cure by means of surgery. The conditions were such that the physicians stated it was remarkable that I could walk at all, and the suffering had so affected the nervous system that insanity was feared. There was serious bowel trouble, and the heart action was very irregular. At the time of the operation the surgeons found conditions that were most distressing, and some of these continued the same as before the operation, the suffering at times being intense. This state of affairs continued till I began to read the text-book of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I soon began to realize that a change for the better was taking place, and one day, after about three months of reading this book and without any treatment, I suddenly became conscious that in the side of the body which had been constantly in pain, something seemed to break away, and then what surgery had failed to do, the truth did for me. My healing of all these troubles was then complete, including the laying aside of glasses; and it has so continued, now more than four years.
