The Christian Science teaching that "matter" is phenomenal...

Terre Haute (Ind.) Gazette

The Christian Science teaching that "matter" is phenomenal rather than real is very much misrepresented in order to excite ridicule on the part of those who have never been taught to discriminate between reality and appearance. Yet these appeals to ignorance made by the opponents of Christian Science are on the same low plane on which the propositions that the earth is spherical instead of flat was once ridiculed, because it was in opposition to our "sensations." Mr. Churchman ought to know, and in fairness he ought to have stated, that the Christian Science concept in respect to "sensations" and "matter" are being rapidly supported by the conclusions of the greatest among the modern natural scientists.
