A question which has come prominently to the fore in the proceedings of the Methodist-Episcopal General Conference at Los Angeles, is that involving a change in discipline to the extent of entirely removing the Church ban on dancing, card-playing, and theatre-going. A sub-committee has reported to the main body a recommendation in which it urges a radical change in the Church rule on the subject, making it simply an advisory restriction instead of a mandatory prohibition as at present.

The international convention of the Young Men's Christian Association of North America convened in Buffalo last week. The convention marks the fiftieth anniversary of the first international convention in America. The convention has brought about 1,400 delegates, representing 600 city associations, 700 student associations, 200 railroad associations and a large number of miscellaneous associations. representing the army and navy, the Negro and Indian races, and industrial concerns.

The President has issued a proclamation for the entry of the ceded lands of the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota, beginning on August 8, next. There are almost four hundred thousand acres of the ceded land and some of it is very fertile. The drawing will take place at Chamberlin July 28.
