After witnessing in my family a remarkable case of healing by Christian Science, I could no longer scoff at its claims nor neglect the opportunity it afforded for my own healing.
My first experience was with an eye trouble for which I had worn glasses for over two years. One of the best specialists in the East had prescribed them, and said that they would need to be worn always, as the trouble was incurable. That his diagnosis was correct, from the medical view-point, was proved by the fact that the wearing of them had done away with the very disagreeable effects for the cure of which he had been consulted.
My healing progressed slowly but none the less surely, and in about three months I had entirely discarded the glasses and for a period of over nine years I have had no need of, nor use for, them. They might well be called "dark landmarks," and surely it gave me "joy to see them disappear" (Science and Health, p. 324).
