It is now more than seven years since I was induced to investigate Christian Science, and only those who have been a slave to medicine as I was, can realize the fear I had of giving up what seemed to me to be the only thing that had saved my life and spared me to my family for years.

I do not wish it to be understood that I did not think there was a God, an overruling power, or that I had no faith in Him.

For more than twenty years I was treated by physicians, many of whom were considered eminent. Weeks and months at a time, I was confined to a bed of sickness, and at times unable to move or scarcely to be moved. But through all those years of suffering I felt I had much to be thankful for: A kind, loving husband and children, and many friends, who stood with willing hands ready to care for me. I feel it would be ungrateful if I did not add, that I know the physicians did all they could for me.
