Some Distinctions

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE shows that the mortal mind, or the general human consciousness, can undo certain effects of its own, but such a process would not be considered a case of complete cure in Christian Science, because until the false mental concept which produced the discord is removed by Science, the discord is liable to return, and, in fact, is likely to do so until altogether removed by a spiritual understanding of Good as omnipotent over all evil of every sort.

If psychology is concerned with the human mind only, no mere knowledge of psychology can perform the work done by Christian Science, which Mrs. Eddy has very properly defined "as the law of God, the law of Good, interpreting and demonstrating the Principle and rule of universal harmony" (Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1).

From the standpoint of Christian Science, to heal the sick does not consist in changing their beliefs by mental suggestion, but to expose and destroy these beliefs as incompatible with the actual facts of the Science of Being, "We should understand that the cause of disease rests in the mortal human mind, and its cure with the immortal divine Mind" (Science and Health, p. 174).
