It is just three years this month since I began to investigate Christian Science in Chicago, and commenced treatment for an illness of about three years' standing. After three weeks' treatment I could not see that I had improved any, and I told the practitioner that I thought I would stop. She asked me to continue another week, saying that I could quit then if I wished. I continued, and I am happy to say I felt very much better at the end of that time. I then purchased a copy of Science and Health for myself. At the expiration of two weeks more I was entirely free, physically and mentally, and what is better still have been taught by one of Mrs. Eddy's students how to make this blessed truth practical and remain free. The mental discord was greater than the physical, though the claims of chronic constipation and eczema have been overcome.
In business, Science has been a wonderful help to me, enabling me to rise above many difficulties. Part of my time is taken up in traveling, and during that time it has been my good fortune and pleasure to visit many of the Christian Science churches from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and to see how this beautiful truth is growing everywhere. It is the same in every place,—the same bright, happy faces are there to greet you and extend a cordial welcome.
All these privileges and blessings have been truly good and great, and I am deeply grateful for them, but the greatest has been the spiritual awakening and uplifting. The dark places have been lighted up and the Bible is a new book to me.
