Christian Scientists in their practice, take for their standard...

The (Pa.) Scrantonian

Christian Scientists in their practice, take for their standard the same rule of conduct as other Christians; i.e., the teachings of Jesus Christ. If, through constant application to the study of these teachings and persistent effort to put them into practice, they seem to receive a larger share of health and happiness than their neighbors, should not the effort be made to find out the secret of their success rather than to subject them to criticism? The Christian Scientist is only too glad to share the good he is daily receiving, and heartily wishes that all the world might learn the value of seeking God aright.

Albert E. Miller.
In The (Pa.) Scrantonian.

To one who ignores the command of Jesus, "Heal the sick," no doubt the physical healing in Christian Science seems specially emphasized, but if we read the Gospel with an unprejudiced mind, we find that the command to "preach" was always accompanied with the command to "heal," and Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." That Christian Science heals sin as well as sickness is proven by the thousands of those who through it have been freed from many forms of vice.

The one duty that is clear for us is the obligation of finding out how to make our gospel a power unto all souls. The effort to do this is enough to occupy a strong heart's entire time; and, on the whole, experience shows that the men who for a lifetime devote themselves to doing this one thing make a broader and a deeper mark for good upon the spiritual life of their time than any who strive for humanity under merely temporary ideals.

Charles E. St. John.
In The Christian Register.

Christian Scientists do not consult spirits. They regard the action of God's law in human behalf as divinely natural, and not supernatural. Their understanding of the omnipotence of infinite Mind enables them to heal the sick and destroy sin, an action in which there is no mystery. I therefore make the assertion that no one is a Christian Scientist who relies upon clairvoyance.
